An assessment of your oral tissues and your denture, if you have one, followed by discussing your options, and creation of a personalized treatment plan. The treatment plan and related price quotes will be written up and provided for review. Lastly, we can submit insurance preapproval or eligibility forms on your behalf.

• Custom Smile Design
Every person is treated as an individual. We will select the shade and mould of teeth together to suit your requirements. We use a wide variety of tooth brands in order to increase the selection of looks and shades available for your smile. Near the completion of treatment we will have a Try-in appointment, where you can try in a wax version of your denture in order to see what your appearance will be like. At this point we will examine closely the aesthetics of the prosthetic and make any desired changes while you wait in the chair.

A removable prosthetic that replaces all of your natural teeth on both the upper and lower ridges.

Standard vs. Precision Equilibrated Dentures Not all dentures are created equal. Just like anything else there are standard models or upgrades. A precision equilibrated denture utilizes; the most durable and realistic teeth, premium acrylic and processing methods (Ivocap Injection), preliminary and final impressions with muscle moulding for a more functional fit, gothic arch pin tracing for accurate jaw relation recordings, a facebow recording for more precise orientation on the articulator, a fully adjustable articulator for teeth setting in the lab and precision placement of teeth with allowances for functional movements with minimal cuspal interference between the dentures while maintaining adequate contacts for masticating. This is a high performance denture taking into account the most proven methods and materials to make a premium product.

A standard denture can be made in fewer appointments and at a lower cost because steps are omitted or shortcuts are taken, and often inferior materials are used to fabricate the denture. The price of a standard denture will often reflect the amount of work and craftsmanship applied to the denture. When comparing prices be sure to know what you are receiving in product, services and aftercare.

• Single Denture
A removable prosthetic that replaces all of your natural teeth on either the upper or lower ridge that is opposed by your natural teeth.

• Immediate Dentures
These can include complete, single or partial dentures. If you are facing the fact that you have to have all, several or just one tooth extracted and will need a denture; you can choose to have an immediate denture fabricated. With this option, you can have the denture premade and inserted “immediately” on the same day of your extractions. All of the appointments necessary to make the denture are completed prior to the extraction date. This allows you to resume your active life without the embarrassment or concern of not having teeth during the lengthy healing period after extractions. As your tissues change during the healing period, we adapt your prosthetic to maintain comfort and function. After approximately six months you will require a permanent reline to your denture.

The alternative to an immediate denture, if you require extractions, is to wait for healing to occur before fabricating the denture. This can often be inconvenient or not practical for many people.

• Implant Retained Dentures
Due to anatomical limitations or a desire for maximum retention and function, you may choose to have implants placed by a Dentist or Specialist. These are small titanium pegs that are surgically placed into the bone in your upper and/or lower ridge. The implants sit 1-2 mm above your gum line and snap into retentive clips in your denture. They help support your denture so less pressure is exerted on your tissues and hold your denture in place while eating or talking. Your denture can be removed at your convenience for cleaning. A minimum of two implants are required to adequately support and retain your denture. They are most frequently used for the lower denture as these are often more unstable than the upper denture. If implants are placed in the upper ridge then you may have the option of having the palate of the denture removed for increased taste and temperature sensations. Implants have been the greatest improvement in denture technology for many years and can increase the performance of your denture by 60%.

• Removable Partial Dentures
These are removable prosthetics that replace missing teeth and fill voids adjacent to your natural dentition. They fit precisely around your existing teeth to restore your full occlusion and natural appearance. Partial dentures can be used permanently or temporarily until other treatment such as implants and crown or crown and bridge treatment can be completed. There are several types of partials available.

• Cast Metal Partial
This utilizes a thin cast metal framework to support and retain the denture teeth. It is thin, strong, and provides a more natural fit. These are usually cast out of Chromium Cobalt, Titanium (hypoallergenic) or Gold. These are cast precisely around your natural teeth which provide support for the denture and the best fit with the least amount of tissue irritation.

• Flexible Partial
This is made out of flexible nylon. It utilizes clasps that blend into the tissues providing great aesthetics. This type of partial is flexible and considered unbreakable. The flexibility allows this partial to be used in situations that are not practical with other partials. These are not supported by the existing teeth and in some occasions may cause tissue irritation.

• Acrylic Partial
This type of partial is usually considered a transitional denture. It can be worn permanently but is bulkier, prone to breakage, not as retentive and may cause tissue irritation as it is not supported by the existing teeth. Acrylic partials are often used temporarily as a post operative prosthetic until the tissues are healed enough for other treatment modalities such as a cast metal partial, implants or crown and bridge.

• Relines and Rebase
Once you have lost some or all of your teeth, the bone that once supported the teeth recedes or shrinks at a slow rate. Over time, your denture will lose its fit causing soreness, looseness, rocking and food entrapment. We can reline the tissue bearing surface of your denture to restore the optimal fit of your denture. A rebase is the same as a reline except we replace all the old acrylic in your denture rather than just relining the inside. This will eliminate the transitional line between the old and new acrylic and eliminate the odours, bacteria, staining and discoloration of the old acrylic. These procedures take a day, so plan to be without your denture from 9:00am – 4:00pm. Other arrangements can be made. On average people require a reline or rebase every 2-3 years. Schedule a free consultation if you are unsure if you need a reline or not.

• Name Insertion
We can insert your name in your denture in the event that it is lost or mixed up with old ones. This is often required or recommended for people who live in care homes or chronic care facilities where the misplacement of dentures can be a common occurrence. This takes 1-2 hours and does not require that the patient come for an appointment.

• Denture Cleaning
For large calculus and tartar build-up, we use an ultrasonic cleaner and then polish out any micro abrasions which tartar tends to adhere to. This procedure takes approximately 20 minutes. For daily cleaning I recommend rinsing with water after meals and brushing once a day with dish soap. Dish soap is inexpensive, handy and it rinses off well without leaving a residue. Do not brush your denture with toothpaste or bleach products. Toothpaste is abrasive and will wear out your denture affecting the fit. Brushing with soap will rid of the food debris but will not eliminate stains or tartar build up. For this and other stubborn stains like coffee, tea, red wine or smoking you will need to soak your denture in a cleaning solution available at most pharmacies or Denture Clinics. We carry Renew. Renew is a professional strength cleaner available at selected Denture Clinics.
